AstroPhotography

The high of summer! Sunny days, late evenings, dark after 10 pm! Defiantly a time of year to be out late in the evening.

For my birthday I brought a new camera. I was so excited to be able to capture the night sky! and what perfect timing to record the comet Neowise passing Earth. Only seen through July, And not to be seen for another 6,766 years as it orbits the sun.

My sister and I looked out from her balcony. We looked for the constellation known as The Plough or The Big Dipper also as the Great Bear. locating the comet just below. We really got into stargazing and watched the sky every night. The comet had a green glow which was very surreal as you could see its trail across the sky.

If you haven’t looked up into a clear night sky, I recommend doing so on the next clear night. The vast space blows my mind at how small we really are on our planet. And the reality of the time we are here for.

I am pleased with this shoot being my first time experimenting with astrophotography, a lot of play with the exposure in the camera settings! A lot of photos ended up being completely black, white or blurred, oops.

See If you can spot the comet in any of the photos, bonus points for star constellations you see!

And here Neo is..

Yep you can just about seem him ———————————->

You can just about see the comet behind the house above the trees. And the big dipper just above- The brighter stars in a square. Looks a bit like a frying pan!
