Hello I’m Verity

This is just a short post to introduce the page and my website.

Over lockdown, I started to lose creativity and took this as a sign I needed a break, which was nice as I had nowhere to be but at home. Although I struggled with no routine and found myself not achieving anything, which was honestly fine for what was happening in the world during this period. I like to keep my creative juices flowing, as I feared it would be hard to get back to creating. Gratefully, I live in the countryside which is where I love to take inspiration from. I took to photography which allowed me to observe and take in my surroundings to find new inspirations and reflect on my new normality to stimulate my creative mind. I find myself mostly with nature, so many projects will be around plants and animals. (Just a heads up)

I want this blog to be a place of reflection as well as sharing my experiences and activities I get up to. I’m going into my third and final year at university which will go by very fast. Getting yourself out on the internet is a very draughting idea, especially when you are a very private person like myself. but with the world-changing, becoming more and more digital, it’s by far the most effective way to start a career as an artist. I will be updating my shop with more prints soon by the way, which I’m excited to jump into!

Since I was young I always struggled to communicate with my voice, speaking was torture in front of people, the fear of saying the wrong thing or just having that attention with all eyes on you. As I’ve grown with the experience, I’m much more confident nowadays and get very enthusiastic when I know what I want to say. It all comes with striving to be your best version. I knowingly need to be able to speak to people who we shouldn’t be afraid of (sometimes I still need to take my own advice.) I found it hard to put my words into a sentence that flowed, as I’m much more of a visual person and it’s easier to describe something through drawing. I really want to get better at writing more, which at this stage is how I feel I’m able to connect to my audience (hi there). I just want to add that I’m not great at spelling, so apologies if there are any grammar issues here. I have stories I want to write and illustrate which I just struggle to comply with sometimes, but it’s all about practice, so hopefully, this blog will help. I hope you will follow my journey as an artist and see where the world takes me.

Until next time we speak, Signed

Verity
